singing in the rain
Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 10:10AM I'm getting ready to load up my van and head to the dress rehearsal for the Kids Christmas Concert at church today. We have to have our big Christmas service on Saturday because of another function at the school where we rent space tomorrow, so today will be a long, but really great day.
I love the traditions that we have built in the Turning Point, from the Mother Daughter Tea to our Summer Celebration to Family Camp to the Kids Concert. It does so much for us to have these rhythms built in to help us build memories.
I think back to all the concerts we have done with the kids, and my favorite part is watching the parents of the three year olds who are doing this for the first time. They are so excited, waving like mad to their kids, and so proud. It is the greatest sight to see.
I also love to remember all the kids who have sang solos over the years. How exciting it must be for them to sing a solo in front of 500 people. It is a huge milestone in many of their lives, and I'm always moved to tears every year.
The forecast calls for rain all day today. Don't know why, but it's not bothering me. We are going to have a great time.
