radiance
Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 02:51AM This Sunday at the Turning Point, we will be continuing our series on Ephesians, and I will be speaking on chapter five. The message is called Radiant Energy.
I have been studying about how Christ was able to make the church radiant by the cleansing of God's word. It got me thinking about when Moses came down from the mountain after spending
time with God, and his face was so radiant that the people couldn't even look at him. When we spend time with God, we get filled up with His energy, which comes shining out from deep within us.
I really needed to be reminded of this, even though that is somewhat embarrasing to say. How simple. When we spend time with God, we have more access to His spirit, we feel more of a connection with Him, we can "shine like stars in the universe." Basic stuff, right? The problem is, I'm not that smart.
I tend to get moving so fast that I forget to take the time to dig deep into God's word. I will read, sure, but I stop digging. I have felt my radiance fading out this week, even while studying about how to increase its intensity. I love it when God does that. He reminds me of what I need, exactly when I need it.
What helps you to want to spend time in God's word when you are feeling drained?

What a challenging question Jay and one that I bet most of us have too seldom pondered. I'm not sure I've ever asked myself this before today. I guess my only answer would be God's great love for us compels us to be with Him, to want to know Him better. Once we truly realize that He loves us deeply and fully, that He accepts us as right where we are, as we are (and without any form of malice whatsoever!) then we will also desire to be known by Him .
So, my answer is because we love Him we seek Him ESPECIALLY when we are feeling drained for His great love for us renews us! But we do this knowing full well that we only love Him because He loved us first!
Great point, Scott. As I've been studying this week, I'm realizing again that Eph 4-6 only makes sense if read in the context of Eph 1-3. I'm speaking about the heart context. When I get that I am a part of God great plan, his mystery of the church being one body, and that He chose me, then all of the instructions are a joy to do, rather than a burden, because they enable me to know Him better. That's where the radiance comes from - really getting my part in the divine romance.
