youth camp 2010 - day 2

Day two is over.  Wow.  Here's the highlights:

  • One of our cabins won the Cleanest Cabin awards and got to go to the front of the food line.
  • We played a huge game called Manhunt, and two of our groups won that game.
  • The only "inury", as far as I know, was Jonathan running through stinging nettles in Strawberry Creek.
  • The group spent some time working on their dance for the talent show in the afternoon.  During the rehearsal, Billy, Brandon and Garret used their sling shot to lob water balloons at the group from the safety of the surrounding forest.  The kids had no idea who was pelting them with water balloons, and it is still a secret to most.
  • The worship service was amazing.  I wish you could hear all of these kids singing and praising God.
  • The lesson last night was about the myths that we can believe about Jesus.  It was called Pink, Plastic, Pansy Jesus.  By the way, Jesus ain't no pansy!
  • And, this morning, Tori had ALL of our kids out on the field at 7:00am for a quiet time.  I guess they had some "things" to talk about.  Have I ever mentioned that Tori and Kamilah are the most amazing pre-teen leaders in the world?  And that we have the best counselors in the world?

This is such an incredible place.  The kids are having so much fun.  Lots of discussion going in the cabins at night.  Lots of friendships being built.  Robin Noll is having so much fun.  Henry Solano is playing the drums in our worship band and is sounding great!

By the way, the sky is bluer and the grass and trees are greener in Idyllwild than any other place I can remember.  I love it here.

I gotta get going on the day, but here are some pics for ya...
